Just a thought about patriotism (Update).

I have been seeing a lot, and I mean a whole lot of people who put Earth for their country. Either one of two things are at work here. Either you think, somehow, that we are, or are about to become a member of some fictional interstellar community, or are embarrassed of the country of your birth or immigrated to. If you think it's the former, you are in for a major disappointment. They are just too few and too far away. So that leaves the second.

Really, are you that embarrassed of your home country? Is there nothing left to be proud of? Not your family, heritage or nation of birth and/or the one you immigrated to? It's like this, if it's good enough to live it, it's good enough to be proud of, if not, leave. I am not being sarcastic, just - leave. It is not that difficult. Or change it through a majority, without threats, burning peoples property and killing those that do not agree with you.

THAT is how it works in an advanced civilization.
