The ever shrinking Right...
The reason right wing ideology is under attack and dying within recent years is a combination of “the written word” and the internet.
To break down my point a bit… The right wing of media and politics is unarguably patriarchal. In the past if it disagreed with something (that was likely a risk to its existence) they could talk over top of it, or refuse to have it printed/displayed in the media. This same control was abused to produce news stories, tv shows and movies that enforced their views. They had a pretty tight hold on manipulating the public’s view on how things were. Then the internet was born.
We now have a full generation of people who are adults that haven’t lived in a life without the internet. Also women and minorities now have a way to express their words without having someone interrupt them, cut them off or refuse to show their side of the story. Using their tried, tested and true method of bullying, the right wing has made insults for these people. By calling people (who are merely standing up for themselves): feminazis, social justice warriors, snowflakes, libtards, Mary Sue, and more to go along with a ton of racist slurs for anyone of different colour.
You’re not going crazy. The separation between people isn’t as bad as the media is telling us. The truth is the majority of us agree with people being equal and having the right to live. The right wing has become more extreme because it can’t survive in a world where they can’t keep people ignorant, or stop them from speaking.
