Whipping

There are four girls in the House who are due to be whipped today as part of their programme of correction. They are brought from the cells and kneel to await their punishment. Any arrogance they had on their arrival at the House was beaten out of them long ago and they wait in complete submission, with their knees apart, hands behind their straight backs and their heads held straight and still.
It is a quiet moment and a chance to regret the misbehaviour that led to them being sent to the House, before the room echoes to their cries of pain as one by one they get 36 hard lashes of the whip and they are returned sobbing to their cells.
