Password protecting Members Videos

I am struggling to understand why members post videos and put password protection or friends only limitations on them.

Surely posting videos is to give other members the opportunity to see the member and what they enjoy and to attract some interest in their profile and to contact if applicable.

It is so frustrating and a waste of time to come across an attractive profile, with nice avatar then find everything is password protected or the content is private.... what is the point of this ????
