New Sites, New Problems (Discussion)
Since Xhamster still has photo uploads disabled, I (and many others, based on my feed) have been on the lookout for new places to post content we enjoy. In my experience, however, this search still leaves quite a bit to be desired.
Here's what I consider a good site that would take Xhamster's place: one that does what Xhamster used to do. Before this sudden development, Xhamster was great for building a friend network that allowed for the posting of content relatively quickly, primarily photos, though in my experience, Xhamster's video approval tends to take less time than other porn sites I've uploaded on. The problem became that due to developments with other sites, namely PH, Xhamster seems to want to take more control in policing content for legal reasons, which is fine, but the way they've done it has alienated a lot of people who contribute to their site. The worst offense I could find before was people getting their tributes rejected from upload due to being furry content, and even that didn't happen 100% of the time.
In other words, a site that can do Xhamster's job should have:
1. Social features that allow for building friend groups/communities of similar interests
2. Reasonable content rules and posting guidelines
3. General user-friendliness, such as downloading content
Now is where the problem starts. Since Xhamster stopped allowing gallery uploads and video downloads, I've used two other sites in its place; Erome and ImageFap. They're nice alternatives, but they're still lacking.
Erome is great for getting galleries in a variety of mediums up fast (videos AND pictures), but there's no social features beyond following users to see what content they post in your feed. No gallery or profile comments, no blogs, and worst of all, no downloads. I tried grabbing pictures from my galleries I had trouble finding in my folder when re-posting to ImageFap and learned this the hard way. There's extensions and workarounds to this, but the fact that that's needed is the last straw for the site's usability as a real replacement for Xham.
ImageFap, on the other hand, is VERY useful for the social side of fapping. It's got a robust and much more active community based around user interaction. Even in the few days I've used it, I've received more follower interaction than I would in the same time-frame on Xham. Galleries are easy to keep track of and download, and while the site is a little old in how its built, it's usable and familiar. The problem here is that ImageFap is very active in policing content uploaded to their site. This isn't a totally bad thing, and is obviously necessary, but my issue is that they police content that I and many others enjoy, and that is accepted in rulebooks on many other websites. I don't think I can use the words themselves here, but to give you an idea, a day after uploading my older Fap Diaries, I received about 10 messages from the admin saying that pictures had been removed. After checking, I realized almost all of them were of Kanna Kamui from Dragon Maid.
So right now, I'm conflicted. ImageFap has the social aspect I'm interested in, but Erome has the freedom of posting that I want as a fan of hentai. I'll keep an eye out for any alternatives and let it be known if I'm starting a presence elsewhere.
