Where Have All the videos Gone? A Rant.
Over the past two years, a number of important prosecutions against "tube" sites (like this one) have all but destroyed porn viewing for millions of fans. Videos disappearing, deleted, or links that just go nowhere, seems to be the new norm among these free sites.
I get it. Copyright infringement, right? But pulling videos that aren't owned by a professional production company- deleting amateur videos because they do not possess the proper certification(s) is the type of over-reach that even destroys the once expanding amateur categories- where the uploaders want their material online for all to see.
Porn sites cruise the tube sites and demand videos be removed...but what are they offering to replace them? Nothing. Some still upload sample videos, a wise idea given how many viewers are active members at these tube sites, but most do not. This means that although their material has been reproduced and distributed without their consent, that they are not getting any advertising for their sites. There have been dozens of times where I have left XHamster to join a subscription site because I wanted the full version of a video, or more and better-quality content. With these major producers gone, where and how will they advertise their sites and latest videos?
The whole situation sucks. I've lost hundreds of videos here, on XVideos, ******* (who was hit hard), and other sites. What is left are the dregs of the barrel. I might go to a subscription site, but my tastes in porn are too varied and I would have to spend well over one hundred dollars per month of fees to match what I was getting on these sites. So I guess we wait and see. Hopefully porn production companies will realize a drop in sales and start feeding us with more samples. Until then, I look for what good porn remains.
