Building My Own Vacuum Bed
Today I finally built my vacuum bed, and would like to share a few things about how I did it. My one is from latex catfish https://www.latexcatfish.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1662&search=vacuum+beD The PVC frame is actually an option that you can order, but I decided to make my own. Plus, to make it work you will need to buy some things from the hardware store anyway.
Tools needed:
-Drill & drill bits
-Saw
-Measuring tape
-Pencil or pen
-Vice to hold pipe (or someone to help you)
-Mitre box (optional)
-File or sandpaper
Parts required (all can be sourced from local hardware stores):
-PVC Pipe 50mm - 8 meters
-Inline check valve - 50mm
-PVC Pipe junction (tee) - female - 50mm
-PVC Pipe bend (90 degree) - female 0 50mm X4
-PVC Pipe connector - 2" male BSP to 50mm female
-PVC glue
-Universal vacuum hose adapter
-Remote control power outlet (optional)
Other parts
-Vacbed
-Vacuum cleaner
-Broome handle (or similar size tube)
-Clamps
Start by measuring the length of your vacbed to cut the PVC pipe. If it has an opening up the top like mine, be sure to leave 30-40cm of room. I made the side pipes 228cm long.
Cut the PVC to length (measure twice, cut once). Then, measure along the length and mark out and drill some holes. I make 10X 6mm holes along each long pipe.
Next I put the t shaped pipe over the bottom edge of the bed, and measured how long the pipes will need to be to go to the corners. After that I cut them to length and pushed the 5 parts together:
There is no need to use any glue on any of the PVC parts so far, in fact doing so can be bad as it will make disassembling and storing the bed difficult. Be sure to file or sand down the ends of the pipes before fitting them together so that there are not rough edges. Next I put the bit in the bottom of the bed. I used a bit of silicone based lube to help get the t-piece into the latex sleeve.
Measure and cut the rest of the pipe sections to form the rest of the frame. Now er are going to make the part that connects onto the vacuum. This is the only part that needs glue to seal it, to prevent air into the bed.Take a bit of scrap pipe and use the PVC to glue it onto the end of the pipe:
Once the glue has cured, insert the pipe into the bottom of the vacbed (using more lube). Then screw the check valve on, making sure that the arrow on it faces away from the vacbed.The check valve is optional, but it removed the need to constantly run the vacuum cleaner for longer, quieter play.
From there you can use the other connector and the universal vacuum adapter to connect the vacuum cleaner to the check valve. The adapter allows different sizes of pipes to fit together, you just pushed it into the check valve and the vacuum hose pushes into it. Finally, use the broom handle (or other small tube) to roll up the end of the bed once your partner is inside, and use the clamps to secure it.
Disclaimer: DO NOT USE A VACBED ON YOU OWN! At least one person has become trapped in one and died as a result. When I tested mine, I did so with the check valve removed and the vacuum rigged to turn off automatically after 5 minutes.
