We had met online and became friends. After talking for months we finally decided to meet. I asked to meet at this small coffee shop next to a curiosity shop I had been wishing to visit and we did. (pics) We walked in and shopped around then spotted a bronze looking time box and picked it up at the same time and laughed. We each played with the arms of the device and it started glowing, Then “Whoosh” we were transported. Standing in the middle of nowhere, with our belongings and that box still in hand. But where?
How was we to know it was The Antikythera Mechanism: is a cultural treasure that has engrossed scholars across many disciplines. It was about the size of a shoebox, with dials on the outside and a complex assembly of bronze gear wheels within. By winding a knob on its side, the positions of the sun, moon, Mercury and Venus could be determined for any chosen date. This artifact was among wreckage retrieved from a shipwreck off the coast of the Greek Island Antikythera, in 1901. Stolen from the National Archaeological Museum, Athens and seemed to disappear in the black market. Now in the ands of two people who discovered it took two hands to activate its true propose...
