11/22/24 Trans women deal with things like this

So I'm on the verge of tears tonight. Even after 28 years of transition and more or less having the tradition for many years of going to my youngest son's house for Thanksgiving and taking vacation time to do it. I was just told today not to come this year because his fiance has a couple of older staunch Republicans coming this year from her side of the family that have never met me and my son would rather not possibly have to explain who I am to them. The thing is I've met a lot of the fiance's side of the family and it's never been a problem and they've always been accepting. I did not know what to say to my son and I am not sure whether to be mad or sad or what at this point. I just know I'm on the verge of tears.
