The Best Neighbors Ever

I've lived in my neighbor for just over 20 years. It's a fairly stable neighborhood with lots of long time homeowners. I've been a widower for almost a year now after 54 years of marriage. I was doing a bit to yard work earlier in the day and one of my neighbors, Eric was out doing the same. We got to chatting as we usually and after awhile he asked me how I was doing in that way that he really wanted to know more than the usual "Hey, how's it goin'?" with the usually, "Just fine." or "Good." response. So we talked about the things I missed about my wife and I admitted for the first time how lonely it was in bed at night. Not as bad as at first, but still at times I find myself reaching over only to find the other side of the bed empty. After a bit more talk, we went about our business.

That evening, there was a knock at the door. I wasn't expecting anyone, none of the kids or grandkids had said anything about visiting but you never know. I went to the door and opened it and there was Eric's wife, Pam. What a surprise. I asked her if everything was OK as I wondered if maybe something had happened to Eric, but she said all was well and asked if she could come in saying that she wanted to give me something.

It was a bit out of the ordinary especially since it was just Pam, but I said, "Sure." and opened the screen door for her as she stepped in. I pulled the screen door closed and then the door and turned around only to discover that Pam had dropped the sweatshirt she was wearing on the floor and was standing there in a very sheer black nighty! She smiled as I gapped at her and my eyes wandered up and down her mature but very shapely silk and nylon clad body.
