Learning languages

I have been learning mandarin for a while now. It has gotten to the point where I can get by talking to Chinese people, provided they don't speak too fast. It is something that I have really enjoyed for many reasons. One unexpected benefit is the ability to understand more porn, and to even start using porn as a learning tool!

Porn videos can be a great source of quirky, slang filled, conversational type language. Of course we have to be careful what words, phrases and meanings we are learning, as some will be very dirty! But at the same time, it can be interesting to see the different ways that cultures can express themselves in the most intimate of settings.

From what I have gathered, a common word expressing how good it feels is "shufu", which translates to comfortable. Thats a bit different to english's "fuck"...

The outcome of this is that I today I provided a translation on a chinese video. It undoubtedly has a few errors, and I partly blame the low quality old video for making it harder to make out certain words, but it is very satisfying to not only be able to understand what she is saying, but to share it with others.
