"Stalking"... Gotta love this mentality!

I've been meaning to write up this blog, but honestly, I just kept forgetting to. Recently I was viewing comments on someone else's profile and came across someone who was supposedly laying out percentage statistics. According to these statistics, X percentage of people on here don't read profiles, X percentage are fakes, X percentage are content creators and X percentage are a mix of all kinds of things (including "stalking", according to them). It triggered my thoughts and reminded me about that whole thing...and so here I am finally writing about it.

So yeah, for a long time now, I have occasionally been accused of "stalking", according to some members on here. I have always found this to be such a misuse of wording (dangerous, in fact) and such a silly and laughable sense of mentality. Let's recap the FACTS here for a moment...

* You PURPOSELY JOIN and BELONG TO a PUBLIC SOCIAL NETWORKING site, ENTIRELY BY CHOICE and FREE WILL!

*
You CHOOSE to create a profile that is specifically designed for PUBLIC VIEW, by default!

* You CHOOSE to keep your profile up for PUBLIC VIEW, even though the option exists for you to hide your profile, if you care to remain private.

* You then have the nerve to get mad at people or even go to the extremes of accusing them of "stalking" you, even though the very purpose of a PUBLIC profile is to be viewed at any rate, any volume or any frequency as any member here chooses to view it, at their own will.

Conclusion: There is no such thing as "stalking" someone on a social networking site in which the entire point and purpose of it's very design is for people to openly engage, interact, view content/descriptions, research, check-in on potential updates/changes and so on. That's like accusing the driver behind you of "stalking" you, because they made the last few turns identical to your direction or are heading to the same grocery store as you are. Like, come on. "Stalking" is preying on a victim, watching their routines closely, having nefarious intent and hiding in a bush at midnight in the dark for someone to pass by. It's pretty unreal that some people come and willingly join a PUBLIC SOCIAL NEWTORKING site of their peers, BY CHOICE and FREE WILL, and then expect some kind of privacy or get mad if someone looks at their profile more than once or chimes in to something multiple times. Like, what?!?!? Why are you therefore on a PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE SOCIAL NETWORKING site of your peers and community then??????? If you want and expect privacy, don't join...don't interact...or make your profile hidden. Simple! Problem solved! There are ways around privacy, for those who demand that on here. Just don't go around loosely throwing around viscous words like "stalking", when you CHOSE to be here on your own!

End of rant!
