Help! how do you shrink a video?

So I recorded me getting directions from someone online and playing and wanted to post the video but the file is to large. Anyone know how to shrink it and what you need to shrink the file it's 2.8 GB? I have a mac and no extras on it and don't want to buy a program to do it.
