Doll head update

Sorry for the huge delay between posts, but some life related things took priority over my project.
The delay caused another setback as the water based clay I used dried unevenly and cracked horribly.
No matter how I tried to repair it I just could not be satisfied with how the patched up head looked.
So I scrapped it and started over from scratch. This time I used an oil based clay.
This has its own set of issues, but as long as you know how to get around them it's not a problem.
The following pictures are of the raw clay head sculpt, that is still in an unfinished state. I need to do a final surface refinement before I cast it.


This is a mock-up to give you an idea of the look I am going for.


Keep in mind that the finished head will be airbrushed to match the dolls skin tone, and the eyes will be airbrushed plastic inserts.
The eyes in the pictures are made of paper and I made them quickly just to keep from having big holes where the eye should be.
The final head will also have airbrushed facial details for the eye makeup and lips.
