I'm just a peaches and cream mutt
Yet so akin, to a black diamond
Precious and rare

Nothing to do with color, no...
Everything to do with what lays beneath the opaque beauty of the surface.
The characteristics deep inside.

A white diamond hides nothing.
There is no mystery.
Viewed and labeled on a scale of "perfection"...
as if there were such a thing.

Then there is me
Glaringly radiant
with all of my flaws, scars and blemishes hidden within.
Not "graded" , only coveted for my differences
Wanted, for my contrast to "the norm".

There are secrets here, in the unseen depths
Fissures, fractures, and darkness here...
And there is light...
a flickering flame
a raging fire
Soft, sensual, erotic, sexual...

Desired

Not an expensive trinket, merely a heart valued as priceless.
