Sexual Addiction
Is sexual addiction real or is it just a negative connotation given to people who enjoy sex more than our society and culture deems appropriate? What do you consider a healthy sex drive? I think about sex constantly. The first thing I do when I see a man that I find attractive is look at his crotch. Does that make me an addict?
The beginnings of sexual addiction are usually rooted up in *********ce or c***dhood. I started masturbating when I was ***********. I did it every night before going to bed. When puberty hit, unless I was asleep, I did it every hour. I could not help myself; a breeze made me horny, a man's scent made my pulse race. You can imagine how troublesome it was to masturbate between class and ask to go to the bathroom during class. I even masturbated in church (God forgive me). I mean if you've been to church then you know how long it can be and those hot Daddies in the pews. My poor little pecker didn't stand a chance.
Research says that addicts do not enjoy sex. They are compelled to act sexually despite increasingly negative consequences to self and to others. I enjoy sex. It is not something I use to fill a void in my life. It just feels incredibly good. It also states that addicts become addicted to the neuro-chemical changes that take place in the body during sexual behavior. I do enjoy the endorphin release of a powerful orgasm but I also get that release of endorphins by giving my partner an orgasm. In fact, I prefer the release I get from giving my partner an orgasm. Again does that make me an addict?
Many addicts are not involved in any public activities that would enhance their level of arousal. Instead they spend hours reading or watching pornography, with eventually masturbation as part of their activity. The internet has become the newest, most rapidly growing form of sexual acting out for many sexual addicts today. A lot of sexual addicts have added computer sex to their repertoire. What is wrong with that again? It is better than visually r****g every man I see.
Sexual addiction is progressive and it rarely gets better. Over time it gets more frequent and more extreme. Addiction can be a positive factor on one’s life, if we realize and acknowledge it. We can live a life that is full and rewarding. It is how the addiction is addressed and dealt with that will determine how the addict will fare later life. Well, I certainly hope so.
