Summer Slam 2014 Preview & Predictions

It's WWE's biggest PPV of the summer & probably the second biggest PPV of the year behind WrestleMania. There has been months of planning and writing to put together a star studded match card with big names & big paydays for those involved !! Here's a look at this years card and the way I see them playing out.

Summer Slam pre -show match : Cesaro vs. Rob Van Dam


These 2 are the definition of mid carder hence their match will occur during concession time & before I fire up my Roku to turn the network on. The WWE has been screwing around with what to do with Cesaro for what seems like forever. He has a manager, doesn't have a manager, he's a heel, he's a face, he's a yodeler ( yeah that happened ) I guess that's what happens when you have excellent in ring talent but marginal mic skills. Van Dam is in the twilight of what has been an underachieving career.. At this point he's willing to get any check he can get with no aspirations of any big time future PPV matches in his future again.

Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz (champion) vs. Dolph Ziggler


The Miz was once a main eventer .. in fact he headlined WrestleMania a fact that most wrestling fans would like to ignore it ever happened. Now he holds the IC belt which has lost all it's luster over the past 10-15 years and it's only until recently the WWE has decided to take an interest in it. Dolph Ziggler might be one of the 4 or 5 best performers they have in the company but because he doesn't fit the certain look company brass wants in their main eventers and with his reluctance to stay quiet about such fact he has never really been able to quite break through !!

Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho


Bray Wyatt has made a big name for himself with his epic promos & showing up big in PPV matches. Problem is he has yet to get over on a major superstar !! Chris Jericho is one the most popular of all time whether he's a heel or in this case a face.. These 2 will surely deliver a physical match that's liable to steal the show.

Stephanie McMahon w/HHH vs Brie Bella w/Nikki Bella


This is a continuation of the storyline that played out late last year through WrestleMania earlier this year involving Daniel Bryan ( Brie's husband ) & The Authority ( HHH & Stephanie McMahon ) and their attempts to prevent D.Bryan from winning the WWE title in which he ultimately did. Now that Bryan is on the shelf with a neck injury and no set timetable for his return we now have this rivalry. Stephanie hasn't performed in the ring in years while Brie has become a staple of their reality t.v show Total Divas ..

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose: Lumberjack Match


These former members of the shield have been going back and forth since Rollins decided to turn his back on the trio and join the authority. Since he has become the money in the bank winner and has primed himself to become a big name in the company. Ambrose is an eccentric character with high potential as an upper mid carder & fringe main eventer.

A.J Lee (champion) vs. Paige: WWE Divas Championship


This part of the program will probably be watched with my pants around my ankles.. My 2 favorite divas on the current roster going at it for championship gold. AJ one of my all time faves with her great ass and physco demeanor vs Paige with her british accent lean curvy figure and pale skin... oh I guess I have to pick a winner

Randy Orton vs Roman Reigns


Randy Orton the established superstar takes on who most people believe is next in line to take over as face of the company sometime in the future. That was whole reason in splitting Reigns from the shield right ? He has the look they like the athletic ability the question is will Orton and his ego let that future start now ??

John Cena (champion) vs. Brock Lesanr : WWE World Heavy Weight Championship Match


Cena you either love him or hate him .. and to be honest the same could be said for Brock Lesnar as well. Both men's name carry appeal outside the world of pro wrestling & not too many fans want to see either walk away with the title especially after Lesnar shocked the world at Mania by ending longtime fan favorite The Undertaker's undefeated streak. And most fans over the age of 14 have had their fill of John Cena !!
