NFL What we learned week 2

Week 2 is in the books and the big takeaway from Sunday is that no one is safe !! I mean as far as injuries go it was a who's who list of superstars that left games early on Sunday because of various bumps & bruises.

A.J Green - Toe
Desean Jackson - Shoulder
Knowshon Moreno - Elbow
Charles Tillman - Triceps
& Last but not least RG3 - dislocated ankle & despite Baylor Bob not being available the Redskins behind backup Kirk Cousins had the week's highest scoring output dropping 41 on the Jaguars but I'll get back to that little later. We learned Colin Kaepernick failed sensitivity training in the eyes of a NFL referee ... and that the Indianapolis Colts have decided playing defense is more of an inconvenience through 2 games so far this year. Other News & Notes from week 2 are as follows.

There are 7 teams that sit @ 2-0 with the two surprises of this group probably being the Houston Texans & Buffalo Bills ... but then again someone in their season preview said Buffalo wasn't as bad as we though !

On the flip side we know the stats on teams that start 0-2 making the playoffs ( %10 ) and only 3 teams have made it after starting 0-3 that's why this upcoming week is crucial for teams like New Orleans, Indianapolis, & Kansas City, playoff teams from last year that were expected to be competitive this year but have now dug themselves an early hole.





Top 5 Power Rankings
1. Denver Broncos - Even though they have had some 2nd half offensive struggles the 1st couple weeks they have still proven to be the AFC elite. Because now their defense can hold it's own for 4 quarters. An early season road test looms in Seattle this Sunday.

2. Philadelphia Eagles - 2-0 start and an impressive comeback Monday night in a hostile environment in Indy.

3. Cincinnati Bengals - 2-0 Impressive wins over Baltimore on the road and a blowout win over Atlanta without their best offensive player has earned them this slot for this week.

4. Seattle Seahawks 1-1 Still the most talented team in the NFC in my mind and reclaim the top spot in the power rankings with a win over the Broncos.

5. Carolina Panthers 2-0 Defense Defense Defense !!! and finding ways to get it done with minimal talent on offense !



Now as a Redskin fan I felt needed to touch on the loss of RG3 ... again for just a moment. Since Sunday the Kirk Jerks have been crowing about he's been the better QB the entire time RG3 can't do this RG3 can't do that & Cousins is the second coming of Tom Brady ! These are the same people that chanted Griffin's name at the top of their lungs in 2012 and fully recognize that playoff push doesn't happen without Baylor Bob. Cousins a decent guy and I'll most certainly root for him I'm a fan & yeah he's the better option now ... because he's healthy ! Hindsight is always 20/20 it's always easy to state the obvious after the fact. But all things equal RG3 has the higher ceiling, better physical tools and more talent. Cousins is what he is a backup and serviceable starter nowhere near elite and the ability to carry a team on his own !
