Campus Report Week 9 : Special Edition
So week 9 didn't really give us any stellar matchups and on the dawn of the first ever NCAA playoff rankings coming out later today there are no major developments to report in the polls. Ole Miss suffered what I consider a mild upset on the road @ #25 LSU .. It's always tough to win in Baton Rouge no matter how down of a year the Tigers are having & with only 1 loss and enough premier games left on their slate this year if the Rebels win out ( this would include wins over Auburn this week & later on down the road against Miss St. & presumably Georgia in the SEC title game ) They will be right back in the final 4 so no huge development there. Michigan got beat badly again .. this time @ the hands of in state and BIGX rival Michigan St. again no big surprise .. the Spartans are the conference favorite while the Wolverines are in a nose dive & probably on the verge of firing their coach at the end of the season. The 2 big takeaway stories in my eyes are First : TCU scored 82 points Saturday afternoon ... yes you read that right !!! 82 points !!No they weren't playing a Division II or Division III private school or scrimmaging a local Fort Worth Highschool they were playing a legitimate Division I fellow conference opponent, Texas Tech led by head coach Ryan Gosling err I mean Cliff Kingsbury
the Red Raiders surrendered 785yds of offense to the frogs in the loss. Now when I was growing up watching College Football on Saturdays the games were pretty regionalized seeing it was the days before 10 different ESPNs and half a dozen other networks that carried NCAA football packages so their were a lot of teams & scores I followed by reading the sports page or seeing grainy camcorder footage on Sportscenter @ midnight. Occasionally your eyes would pop out seeing a team drop 50 maybe even 60 and it was only a handful of teams capable of putting up such numbers back then ( Nebraska in their hay day, Houston during the run & shoot days where they actually put 91 on a team, & BYU ) but you get the idea the list wasn't long. But nowadays if your scoring 50 some days you may lose the game .. it's just the age of football we live high scores & big numbers and no offense to TCU their a good team with a Heisman candidate QB, one of the best coaches in the country in Gary Patterson & they are a championship contender but they have no business scoring 80+ against able bodied scholarship athletes. With all that being said that is the 2nd biggest story of the college football week !!! Here is your biggest story ...
What you see pictured above is Notre Dame 19 year old Freshman WR Justin Brent ( insert first joke there ) alongside 42 year old porn star Lisa Ann... This story basically writes itself !! I'm sure once this photo hit the wires along with news of their apparent relationship I'm sure it sent the good Catholics up in South Bend into a frenzy .. I mean we all know the Catholics are at the forefront of sexual morality ( I'm sorry folks I told you this was going to be way to easy ). Surely Brian Kelly, the head coach and the man who has everyone in the Notre Dame football program's best interest in heart .. Minus of course the dozen or so players on academic suspension for cheating & the k** who fell to his death while trying to film the practice for the coach. Everyone else is golden even those with fake girlfriends. The only thing Brent did wrong in my opinion was attend a Knicks game !! I mean the Knicks ?? Come on dude they may win 35 games this year if their lucky .. I mean if you want to impress a girl on a date you at least have to step it up to the Nets .I'd like to know how they met , who recognized who ? and who made the 1st approach ? What the NCAA will want to know in an age where we can't pay " Amateur " ( insert next joke ) athletes .. is who paid for the tickets ? The NCAA suits are sticklers for " improper benefits" going to their athletes ( insert next joke ) and I would hate to see this get messy for him. I just know he needs to get this behind him, and everyone lays off these 2 or he lays off her this week IDK whichever is easier and he has a good week of practice with an important game coming up this week ! I was able to find footage of Mondays practice and it went a little like this ..
Yep I think the Irish have rebounded just fine from that heartbreaker in Tallahassee .. I guess for those who care we need to do the top 25 of course an asterisk represents the final 4 as I see it. Oh it's a special edition because the committee releases their 1st official playoff rankings today ... it's got nothing to do with this ..

Top 5 Matchups this week
Florida @ #9 Georgia ( in Jacksonville ) 3:30pm CBS - Nicknamed the world's largest cocktail party for it's outdoor party atmosphere & gathering point for fans of both these border rivalries you can usually expect a close competitive game.. Well not this year. Even without Todd Gurley Georgia still runs the ball as well as anybody in the nation & have one of the SEC's stingiest defenses. Florida ehh not so good offensively, ok their terrible on offense !! Let's hope pride & familiarity gets them through.
#6 TCU @ #20 WVU 3:30pm ABC - Another parking lot high scoring BIGXII affair where the 1st team to 60 probably wins. TCU is 6th in the nation in passing and WVU is 9th. At some point one of the defenses will have to make a stop in order to win, that advantage would have to go to the Frogs but the game is in Morgantown always a tough place to play !
#7 Notre Dame @ Navy 8:00pm CBS - In a game played in Landover MD, the Irish will take on some seamen looking for ......... OK I cant even go into this one .
#17 Utah @ #16 Arizona ST. 11:00pm FOX Sports 1 - So Utah leads the nation in QB sacks led by DE Nate Orchard who is 2nd in the country with 11 .. while ASU has a 2 headed monster @ QB with Junior Mike Bercovici & Senior Taylor Kelly who combine for 303yds a game lets see who wins out in this game within the game so to speak.
#5 Auburn @ #8 Ole Miss 7:00pm ESPN - Plain & simple a must win for both teams to keep their national championship hopes alive. Ole Miss is #1 in the country in scoring defense allowing only 10.5pts per game and only giving up 20 points once this year. They have athletes allover the field & home field advantage. The Tigers average 281yds a game on the ground which is 10th in the country & tops in the SEC , but did not fair well in their last trip to Mississippi in getting beat pretty handily by the Miss St. Bulldogs.
And remember everyone no matter what you do play like a champion today !!
