How or Why Do We Make Favorites of Porn?
As a user of xhamster for a fairly long time (even before I registered and started my own profile), I, like many others, started to select certain videos as "Favorites." As I have been trolling and uploading and evaluating porn all of these years, I have noticed that many of the members of this site make it a point to publicly post their own favorites--in fact, for many that have no content, that is ALL they post.
On the other hand, I have been hesitant to post my "Favorites." This has been due to a paranoia that most people experience with regards to porn: that somehow imagery, videos, and sexual content are somehow a source of shame or embarrassment--that it is just not okay to enjoy pornography on any level. And even though I don't subscribe to that viewpoint, many people (mostly religious fundamentalists) take pains to be judgmental and to reach unreasonable conclusions about the nature of human sexuality.
On another level and in an attempt at introspection and observation, I began to wonder why I would favorite one video over another. Granted, I know my tastes (as is evident in my posts--retro and vintage lesbian porn) but that is not the only porn I have "favorited." Take modern lesbian porn for instance--Brazzers or similar content. Some of it is so synthetic, fake, and over the top that it hardly passes as porn or sexual at all: formulaic and dull. In contrast, the same models in the same setting on the same site can--with a change in makeup or dress or scenario--become a favorite of mine. Strangely, all it takes is one adjustment to the visual element here or there and some shift in role play and the sexual ambiance is much hotter and better. Not surprisingly, one aficionado's view compared to another is completely different; someone else may have found the first scene hot and the second one dull. Porn--like all epicurean fancies such as beer, wine, and food--is matter of palettes, flavors, and tastes: some more refined and objective than others.
