"Knighting" - is it a good idea?

I've been on here for about five months now, inspired to open an account because of one person I really liked who I'm pretty certain I'd like in real life, as well (if I wasn't, I definitely wouldn't have opened an account). In truth, I've met several individuals on here who warm my heart and enrich my life simply by being alive.

I noticed a new phenomenon a couple nights ago in a couple rooms. Every now and then a user has a shield next to his name. This is called "knighting", I guess. Now my concerns with this is that:

1) I sometimes feel like a second-class citizen when I'm in a room if another user has "special status". I don't feel as close to the model anymore. So in a world that depends on illusion to a great degree, that illusion has been shattered. If you're a "cam-person" (I've read the site rules as well as many tips on how to be successful in this arena), its in your best interest to preserve that illusion.

2)The propensity for "bullying" other users increases. And that may turn off your audience and lose you long-time or long-term guests. (I've noticed that people who tip a lot in tokens usually "encourage" those who don't have so many tokens to tip, as well. Its not bad to encourage people to tip, but when you become somewhat belligerent about it (ie: bullying), you might turn off users who are not as financially blessed as you. And they might lose interest in the model you're trying to help and go elsewhere. It kind of defeats the purpose). This is very subtle, but I assure you, it goes on. I've seen it and experienced a very negative reaction to it myself.

So I'm just adding my two-cents worth here. To the models, I think it will prove detrimental to you in the long run to give users special privileges. Also, what if you have a "falling out" with one of your "knights"? It might not be so easy to "take back" the privilege you've given away. The users who are your good friends will speak up for you anyway because they care. They don't have to have special status to prove it (while I might blush at the offer, I don't think my being "knighted" would help very much for the above reasons). If your users have the ability to tip you, and they like you, they usually will. But if they feel as if they're second class citizens, they won't feel like coming to your room so much or maybe ever again. Its bad enough if users feel this dynamic exists between "greys" and "golds", but to add another layer on top of that, just invites trouble.

To the other users out there, both grey and gold, I encourage you to tip when you can afford it if you're in someone's room interacting with them. Cam-people are there to provide a service (companionship, friendship, a good show, maybe make you feel good, etc), and make money doing what they like. Most are decent people. It takes more guts to do what they do than to be an anonymous user hiding behind a screen somewhere in cyberland. But please, above all, show respect for them as a fellow human being. Don't ask them to do degrading things. Though they may be baring themselves physically, there is a real live human being inside there with feelings, just like you; and you should treat them with as much respect as your own brother or sister... or yourself. :)

To all of you who I count as friends on here, I sometimes don't have the ability to help you financially as much as I'd like to(when I do have some spare cabbage, I like to help you out), but I really appreciate you being there. I do care about whats going on in your life and I care about your mental, as well as your physical health. And I think that's reflected in the way I communicate with you. And you know that if I knew you IRL, I would be there for you too. If you feel I've ever wronged any of you, I'm sorry. Didn't mean to step on your toes and I only do such things in ignorance, not out of apathy or malice. But that's how we learn to get along with others and where our boundaries lie. Love all of you and think of you many times during my day. Thanks for listening and All the best! :)
