Paula Johnson woke up and rushed to the bathroom. She was running late for work. She showered quickly and dressed in her uniform. Her boyfriend of four years was asleep in the bed. She was the manager of a Hardee's restaurant. She ran outside and started up her silver 2008 Kia Spectra.

Around an hour later, Paula's common law husband, Ivan, was awakened by the sound of the shower going in the three bedroom, one bathroom ranch-style house. He knew it was his chick's son, Austin.
