How People look at Servicemen and Service Women

Anzac Day is now only a day away and I keep thinking of the way I still see people on the street looking at servicemen
and women on the street.
Most look at them as if they were something they have found stuck to the bottom of their shoe.
What these people forget is that it is because of these people who volunteer to put on these uniforms that in most
countries these days there is no conscription or national service anymore.
It is because these people put their dreams for the future aside that the sons and daughters of the very people who look
down on them are able to reach for their dreams and get that education and the job they want. It is because of them that
your son's and daughters don't have to go into harms way.
Don't forget these are other peoples son's and daughter's, would you want other people to look at your offspring the way
you look at theirs?
When you see them on the street think before you sneer at them.
Maybe you should say a quiet thank you to them instead.
