Halloween
on oct 31 2018 i put on a pink wig and little witches hat before heading over to my local mall to enjoy seeing trick or treat in the mall. besides the little ones dressed in costume some moms and dads were as well.
what i wore was very minimal so i was surprised at the attention i received. it seemed little ones who walked near were very interested in me. from repeated looks to almost stumbling because their eyes were fixated on me. then a girl maybe 12ish looked back said something to her mom and ran back and offered me a treat, some smarties. a couple of different women passing said to me i looked beautiful, great was another comment i started thinking that maybe i will start doing pink hair everyday if it looks that good.
i had been there maybe 30 minutes when a woman with a camera approached me and asked if she could have a picture. surprised i said sure, thinking i was right i look really good in pink hair. not long after another woman with the same request.
as she took the picture a thought came to me .she said thank you then i replied "you do know my costume is just the hair and hat all the rest is just everyday me" her smile slipped and for less then a second ...hate to say it this way but she looked as if she had a "brain fart" a weak smile came back she mumbled something and she was gone.
now was that good or bad.
on hand i was perceived as a guy doing a costume as a woman so well that some had to have a picture to show friends just how well this "guy" did
on the other hand,,,is there another hand?
should i just be happy that i do a very good job of looking like a woman for a "guy"
i am happy i looked so good. and it was flattering to get all the attention.
i am hesitating at this point. thinking this and that somewhat confused as to what to think,
but i'll go with even what happened is flattering on some level they were all way off base.
what i did, what i do, no what i am is a woman.
in the end it is not what other people think in passing.
