What is Dissociative Identity Disorder like
When someone tells people that more personalities exist it is very hard to comprehend. How does one describe personality? Personality is based on personal beliefs. How can someone have different personal beliefs? To get to the root of the matter is - People evolve over time; Likes, Dislikes, Hobbies.. In the D.I.D. state those beliefs becomes clouded.
in an example, Pizza tastes good / Eating Pizza is not healthy / Is the reward worth the sacrifice? (Yes/No)
in D.I.D. it contrasts so wildly, Doing something you enjoy to realize suddenly you hate yourself from enjoying it. You hate yourself so much you refuse to think about it. acknowledge it, it doesn't exist.
Like someone who is a vegan or a****l rights enjoying only pork secretly. They don't want to acknowledge that they are being a hypocrite, they will interrupt people who try to correct them, ignore them, annoy them, get angry & attack them. this is what creates that D.I.D moment. - It is a trigger that changes personal beliefs to what aligns with what the stimuli demands. When someone who has been abused gets angry they change psychologically saying "I don't want to be weak anymore, i am hurting, i want the world to know it, it's my body, stop telling me what to do" when the need goes away & the trigger is removed and the default personality returns. It comes with personal confusion.
Personal confusion is like amnesia, you might be aware of the actions, you might not, it is like a sudden burst of anger, you can't remember what was said. with that being said..
I am currently working on a thesis how the Personality, Ego & Identity combine to make the altered state..
In my thesis I am looking at how the Ego (the u*********s beliefs) & the Personality (the conscious behavior) makes up the Identity to submit to my friend in psychology
... Back on point, When those triggers happen, not all the time is it bad, sometimes it can be something silly like being humiliated by misspelling a word, it can be triggered by the environment or like my Ther****t friend asking for business advice, or when I feel like I am required to play through the sustained injury. Usually when those happens, It is a change in belief & even skills I did not remember learning.
Notices are hard to spot but it can be seen, Like suddenly liking Rap Music or Interests in Reading, skills like Micromanagement, Critical Thinking, Attention to Detail, Inability to Process Pain (yes to a point where it could be considered a superpower)
I hope this helps people understand D.I.D better
