Glenhurn was one of those places which seemed like heaven on earth during the summer months, but transformed into hell itself in the winter months. It was in the summer, at the height of the war, when our headmaster, Mister Dickinson, received his call-up papers. Although renowned for his firm guidance, Mister Dickinson was much liked amongst the boys, and was perceived as a great loss. His wife was immediately appointed Headmistress.
