1. I'm guessing you were using hemp rope? -yes I primarily use hemp rope as it's my favorite. I started with 5/16" Solid Braid MFP, my reasons for that were purely as it was available to me at the time. The cost id much lower then that of hemp or jute. It's rot proof and will float in water, it's also much easier to clean and maintain. Hemp rope must be hand washed, hung from a rod or clothes line to dry, and then oiled.
