My Daily Walk I try to get out of the house daily for a walk. I have several routes, depending on how the weather is, and how I feel, I am out for about an hour to two hours. To make things better for me I carry some dog biscuits. I would rather have a dog as a friend, than one that would like to bite my balls off for a snack. Unintentional The boss, a lady, had decided to work us on a split shift. One group would be 6am to 3pm, the next group would be 9am to 6pm. I was assigned to the second shift, and that is ok with me, I get to sleep in a bit. The weather had turned cold, and it started to snow, heavy about 2pm. Fearing the worst the manager sent everyone home, or to the hotels. I was in a hotel, living on expenses and per-deim, being from out of town, the hotel filled up quickly, as the freeways were jammed with accidents all over the place. Adjoining Rooms As I worked, away from home for months on end, I learned the hotel rooms that worked best for me were on the top floors. I preferred rooms on the end, thereby eliminating noise on both sides, as well as noise from the floor above me. Some of the buildings I worked in were diverse. That is there were a mixture of business, and some had residential on the upper floors. A common theme was to have a floor, or part of a floor, with something similar to a food court. There would be several restaurants, along with some coffee vendors,a dn a couple of fast food stores. About a week had passed since Linda and I had bought our toys. I really liked mine, and was using it almost daily. I had arrived at Indianapolis in the afternoon, and after getting a rental car, arrived at the hotel I would be in for the next 8 to 10 weeks, or so. I made a trip to the new office, met the people I would be working for, and we all agreed to start work early for the next 2 weeks and stay late hoping to get all done smoothly. Fast forward 3 weeks. So, here I was in Fairbanks, and the longest day was approaching. I had heard many stories, and many weird tales, mostly tales to scare the little folks. I wanted to stay up and watch the sun just barely set, slip along the horizon and back into the sky. Only problem was staying awake. On Saturdays I would buy a 12 pack of beer, and sometimes a bottle of bourbon, and share it with my co-workers in the hotel. I did just that this Saturday, and about 8 men and women were imbibing. We all had some of the beer and bourbon and some were feeling *****. Its funny to watch senior citizens get loose, epically when on the road working long hours, for months at a time.
