I am turning away from pornography by the infinite mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ and the prayers of the saints. Pornography is not harmless entertainment. It is a soul destroying passion that darkens the mind, hardens the heart, and separates us from the true love for which we were created. The Orthodox Church teaches that the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, not an object to be used or consumed.Yet there is real, living hope. No sin is greater than Gods mercy. Saint Mary of Egypt, once a notorious harlot who sold her body for pleasure, repented with tears, fled into the desert, and became one of the greatest saints of the Church. Her life proves that even the deepest fall can become the greatest ascent through sincere repentance, ascetic struggle, and the grace of Christ.If you are tired of the chains, if you long for freedom and true peace, look to her example.
